Advice For Musicians
Inspiration & Mindset
⚡New blog post! ⚡Based on my IG post the other day titled - You Have No Competition. Brought back a few memories of starting out and finding my way in the music scene and the world. Definitely worth a read with a special bonus tip for approaching music industry professionals for advice at the end! 🙌 (Link in bio)
❌ You have no competition. ❌ So many people are afraid to share information, contacts, advice. I've come across this "scarcity mindset" so much in the music industry and I am constantly getting comments from people about how much info I share for free between my blog, FB group and now podcast. The thing is, withholding info from another band will not make you more successful. Sharing a strategy to how you achieved thousands of Spotify streams will not suddenly make your numbers start rolling in reverse. Whilst I definitely do not agree with laziness and asking for favours from people you don't even know, I still think that supporting the scene can only be beneficial whenever the situation arises. We need to stop viewing each other as competition. You have no competition so long as you stay in your own damn lane and do the best you can do. 🙌
HOW TO NOT ANNOY PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA BY PROMOTING YOUR BAND’S SHIT. I'm literally feeling so emosh at the reaction to my latest blog post. It's sparked so much meaningful conversation. Bands think they need another promo strategy but in most cases they don't. They just need to feel worthy enough to succeed. ♥️ Link is in my bio if you want to read.

HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR BAND.⚡ If you're a member of my Facebook Group Music Marketing & Mindset for Heavy Bands/Musicians, you would have answered a question before you joined asking why you want to be a member. Overwhelmingly the main answer I get is that musicians are looking for tips to promote their bands. There are 3 main ways to promote your emerging band. 1. Social Media - Through your band page and personal pages, paid or organic. I'm a huge fan of organic marketing and if you've read my book Social Media Shredder (or completed the course), you'll know that one of my biggest tips when it comes to increasing your reach is to really take advantage of your personal social media profiles. It automatically increases your reach 4 or 5-fold (depending on how many band members you have). 2. Traditional Media - PR Campaigns do wonders. But whether you're at the stage where you're ready to hire a PR company or you're doing it yourself, getting media and radio support increases your reach but also your credibility. Credibility builds trust with your audience, cementing your relationship and turning them into lifelong fans. 3. Word of Mouth - This is the best form of promo. The way you get good word of mouth is simple. Good music, good show, good attitude. The music is your art at the end of the day and I'm going to be the bad guy and say YES you should invest in good production for your music and video clips. Whilst I would definitely advise against OVER spending on this, there's a difference between hiring a pro at average prices to recording yourself or getting your mate to film your video clip.⠀ ⠀ Don't forget my new book Social Media Shredder is OUT NOW on Amazon in both paperback and eBook!
